I was alerted this afternoon that chapter fifteen (of Go Home, Afton) is completely missing from The Afton Morrison Series audiobook. As in, the audiobook goes straight from chapter fourteen to chapter sixteen.
And for those of you who have already read Go Home, Afton, you know how significant chapter fifteen is. It’s the longest chapter and the climax of book one.

RESOLVED (November 12, 2018): This issue has now been resolved! If you previously downloaded the audiobook, simply remove it from your device, and then download it again from the cloud. You’ll now have the correct version with 82 chapters.

Let me start by saying this:
I’m sorry.
- Kristin James, the main narrator and the producer of this audiobook, triple-checked the audio files before sending them to me for approval.
- I then triple-checked the audio files before signing off on them.
- Audiobook Creation Exchange, otherwise known as ACX, did a full review of the audiobook and its files before approving it for sale on Audible.
I take the satisfaction of my readers (and listeners) very seriously. And it would be nice, in a situation such as this, to have someone to blame. To be able to point to someone and say, with absolute certainty, that he or she is responsible for this.
But if anyone is to blame, it’s me.
No one knows my books better than I do. Not to mention, it’s my name that appears biggest and boldest on the cover.
The lesson in all this?
Mistakes happen sometimes.
Regardless, I really feel like I let you down.
The good news, however, is that Audible—to be more specific, ACX—is working on the issue right now, on a Friday afternoon. I’m told that, in a matter of days—Monday, at the earliest—this issue should be resolved.
My best advice?
If you haven’t started listening to the audiobook yet, wait a few days. I’ll update this post once I have confirmation that the issue has been resolved.
To check and see if you have the updated version, open up the chapters menu in Audible. Does the audiobook have a total of 81 or 82 chapters?
- 81 is the version missing a chapter.
- 82 is the correct version.
To be certain you have the newest version available, try removing The Afton Morrison Series from your Audible device, then download it again from the cloud.
If you want to start listening now, I’d recommend downloading the Go Home, Afton Kindle eBook (free) from Amazon.
You can listen to the first fourteen chapters, read chapter fifteen, then return to the audiobook for chapter sixteen and onward.
Both are viable options.
Again, I want to offer you my sincerest apologies, and I hope (more than you know) to have all of this resolved soon.
More than anything, I hope this won’t discourage you from reading (or listening to) titles of mine in the future.

Mistakes happen all the time. It’s whether the author does their best to take care of the situation that matters. And you did! I appreciate that you got right on this! I noticed the problem and next thing I know it I’m getting an email about it. Good for you Brent!!!

Thank you, Donna. I felt bad about the entire thing. Yes, mistakes do happen sometimes, but this one shouldn’t have. I’m just glad that it has been resolved, and that it was resolved quickly. —Brent
