What Do the Characters in “Fender” Look Like?

What Do the Characters in "The Fifteenth of June" and "Fender" Look Like?

When I published The Fifteenth of June, I had some fun by creating a blog post outlining which Hollywood celebrities I’d cast as each of the main characters.

I decided to do the same thing for Fender, which is now available for purchase on Amazon in print and Kindle eBook format.

After scouring the internet for ideas, here is the best fit I came up with based on how I envisioned and described each character in the book:

[Fender] was much more emotional than I had expected. . . . I cried at least once in the first 60 pages.

—Alicia Owen, Book Reviewer (mixedbagmama2013.blogspot.com)

. . . a tragic-comic series of events that proves that the journey is more important than the destination. . . . Fender is a delightful . . . story about the redemptive power of friendship.

—Lynda Dickson, Book Reviewer (booksdirectonline.blogspot.com)

[Fender] is as visceral as it should be. . . . There is laughter, tears, foul language, anger, more laughter and eventually, glimmers of hope . . . I can’t recommend this one enough.

Brent is a kick-ass storyteller. . . . I have little doubt [Fender] will tug at the heartstrings of anyone who reads it.

A Look at the Road Trip That Inspired "Fender" (With Photos)

The road trip in Fender is based on a real road trip my wife and I took with our dogs back in 2015. Just for fun, I thought I’d share our itinerary from that trip, as well as a few photos.

Including driving around each destination—from the hotel to dinner, landmarks, dog parks, and so forth—we logged more than 7,000 miles and 126 hours behind the wheel on that trip, visiting 12 destination cities and spending 23 nights on the road.

We took I-90 west, I-5 south, and I-80 back east.

Jones does not gloss over the trouble, pain or darkness in a person’s life experience, but he feathers [Fender] with quick, sure glimpses of the good in life . . . It leaves me with the feeling of having met real people. . . . I’m waiting eagerly for Jones’s third book!

—Amy Roebuck, Fort Erie Public Library

Brent Jones has exceeded expectation that his sophomore novel, Fender, might best the debut. This emotionally packed literary saga . . . is powerful and profane and masterfully examines the overwhelming condition of stupefying grief.

—Stanley McShane (Virginia Williams), Author of Cocos Island Treasure

This book is going to be something that will stay with me for a long time. [The Fifteenth of June] was great! . . . I was blown away . . .

Initial Feedback on "Fender" from 7 ARC Readers

In less than three weeks, Fender: A Novel will be released in paperback and Kindle eBook formats.

A big advantage I had to publishing my second novel is that I was able to distribute Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) to fans of The Fifteenth of June.

My ARC team is about 21 strong, and I’ve got feedback from a number of ARC readers so far that I want to share.
